Welcome to smokefreehousing.org! This site is dedicated to providing information on smoke free housing throughout the counties of Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Shasta, Yuba, and Colusa  as well as the most up-to-date information on secondhand smoke. Please see the "Smoke-Free Housing" section on the links page for information about smoke-free housing in other parts of California.

Secondhand smoke can affect people in many aspects of life. For some it creates disability, for others it's just a nuisance. Whatever the case, you may not always have the option to go elsewhere.

In many multi-dwelling units such as apartments, condos, and duplexes secondhand smoke can travel through shared ventilation systems, or from one private area to another, posing a health risk for those who do not smoke.

Our goal is to provide options! In hotels you can request smoking or non-smoking rooms. Why not have the same choice in determining your long term residence?
